Meet Lizzie and Kathryn Fortunato
They’re twin sisters who have made a name for themselves with their whimsical statement jewelry—Vogue, InStyle, and Harper’s Bazaar are big fans of their work, and so are we. The duo’s vibrant designs feature ahead-of-the-curve details that are influenced by fine art, vintage styles, and their travels across the globe. With bold, uplifting colors and a mix of natural and found materials including stones, leather, and vintage charms, Lizzie Fortunato designs have the power to transport the wearer to Morocco, India, Japan, Italy, Mexico, and beyond. Based in New York, the brand is a go-to for statement rings, necklaces, and earrings, all of which are made for those who dress with the purpose of telling a story.

How They Got Started
Launched in 2008 out of a Lower East Side of Manhattan walk-up apartment, the brand was born with the support of a $10,000 Goldman Sachs bonus check that Kathryn gave Lizzie on their 24th birthday with the instruction to follow her dreams. In 2010, Kathryn joined the brand full-time to combine the sisters’ talents: Lizzie’s flair for the creative and Kathryn’s background in economics. The sisters first discovered the glimmer of possibility that could be drawn from these combined skills during their shared time at Duke University, when they turned Lizzie’s handmade jewelry hobby into a profitable business.

The Brand's Mission and Inspiration
Lizzie and Kathryn think of their creations as art objects that are worthy of being displayed and enjoyed even when they’re not being worn. The brand’s mission is to create products that tell a story and champion intentional production, meaning they only produce what they know they can sell. The pieces are luxurious because of the materials and time that go into each one, and their one-of-a-kind nature.

Paying It Forward
The designers of Lizzie Fortunato are passionate about using its platform to champion fellow forward-thinking women, which is why they created the Creative Women's Network as a way to connect the voices of other female entrepreneurs, leaders, creatives, and activists from across the country. The network provides a space for great conversation, friendship-fostering, and a community in which creative females can share advice, mentorship, and support.
Their positive impact radiates beyond the confines of the network by paying living wages, producing locally, consciously maintaining a small footprint, and directing financial resources to causes including education, environment, maternal health, food equity, voting rights, and social justice.

Shop Our Favorite Lizzie Fortunato Jewelry
Our favorite Lizzie Fortunato pieces are inspired by the beauty of objects found in nature, such as shells, gemstones, and flowers. The Vizcaya Necklace, for example, expertly combines mixed materials like pearls and beads in a variety of colors. We recommend styling it with a longer necklace, like the Luna Pendant, which features turquoise and mother-of-pearl details. You’ll find more enticing beaded pieces in the brand’s latest drop in autumn-ready shades of blush and royal blue.
We love the way a handful of Lizzie Fortunato rings can transform an outfit. Our selects come in jubilant hues of ochre, terra, and azure—each one crowned with a different gemstone. Style yours with a pair of earrings that complements its colors, like the mocha-hued Organic Hoops or the pearl Comet Earrings. If you favor a little more variety, opt for the vibrant Mini Arp Earrings, studded with pink amethyst and citrine, or the turquoise and grandidierite-beaded Alvar Earrings.
Shopping this edit supports Lizzie Fortunato’s efforts to spread positivity and empower creative women throughout the community. We’re always here for that! Explore the entire Lizzie Fortunato collection to find unique jewelry that will elevate your mood with the close of a clasp.
